The next innovation of LED illumination: optical conversion technology

In recent years led prices have been decreasing, leading the global LED lighting market booming. However, we are facing the second wave of LED lighting industry revolution. The second generation LED optical technology can provide more comfortable, safe, high-quality and network LED lighting, and the price is more pro-people. Light Polymers, a new company based in San Francisco, is using innovative water liquid crystal materials patented technology to subvert the LED lighting industry.

Light Polymers (Optical polymerization Co., Ltd.) specializes in synthesizing aqueous liquid crystalline materials for a variety of uses. Now, the company uses this unique chemical material in LED light conversion technology (DOWN-CONVERSION) to develop new Crystallin series products, including lights for building lighting, beauty lamps, LED lights for treatment of red light, plants, fish and animal growth lights, Professional photographic lamps and advanced personal lamps. "Light Polymers's advanced polymer technology is different from the traditional fixed-color LED packaging technology," Light Polymers CEO and President Marc McConnaughey said in an exclusive interview with Ledinside. "Optical conversion technology is not a new concept for the LED industry, but is limited to the implementation and cost issues, this technology is not widely used in lighting equipment." ”

In the past, the high Color (CRI) of the lighting equipment is mainly used in the museum, such as the performance of the very demanding places. Light Polymers Liquid crystal material technology allows lamps to radiate comfortable and uniform light, not only maintain the full gamut (high CRI), but also have low glare and prevent ultraviolet light out of the characteristics. Because light polymers chemical materials can reduce manufacturing costs, these ultra-high quality lighting products will be able to win market competition at a more reasonable price. 

"Light Polymers technology includes a special performance of aqueous liquid crystal materials, can be closely wrapped fluorescent powder together to achieve the maximum blue conversion rate," Light polymers Dr. Huang Zhihao explained. "This will enable the use of a variety of Low-power Blu-ray led, not only can omit the expensive points bin or picking operations, nor need high-brightness led the expensive large-scale heat sink, add extra cost." Grasp the market niche, the introduction of a reasonable price of high CRI led embedded lights

Light Polymer's Crystallin recessed lights create a new niche in the highly competitive led recessed market. This is the thinnest recessed lamp on the market and provides a museum-level lighting, suitable for home or commercial lighting purposes, and at a price for pro-people.

"We can design any spectrum within a few days," said Zhangjiarong, vice president of Light Polymers. Recessed lights are a fairly sensitive mass market, but we believe that there is a demand for high CRI embedded lights at reasonable prices. "Light Polymers launched 6-inch recessed crystallin gold with high color (CRI greater than 98), color temperature 3000K and 5000K two species, the recommended price (MSRP) of $14.99. In addition, the 6-inch recessed product also includes Crystallin Red (using a spectrum that does not affect sleep), crystallin orange (for environments with high sensitivity to light, such as semiconductor plants and program designers who like to encode under orange light), Designed for Beauty Manicure salon Crystallin Salon, as well as Crystallin Grow (indoor plant growth lights).

Light Polymers also provides crystallin custom services to allow customers to make the spectrum. Light Polymers also put into multi-layer film development, so that the luminous efficiency than traditional lamps higher than 30%.

Booming led plant lighting

For LED lighting manufacturers, plant lighting is a fairly lucrative market. Ledinside predicts that the global led plant lighting market will grow from $576 million in 2016 to $1.42 billion in 2020.

Light Polymers will also be introduced in the near future Growblade light conversion flat-panel plant lamp, including 300×300mm, 300x600mm, 300x1200mm and 300x1500mm four kinds of sizes. Growblades has a high luminous efficiency, designed for indoor farms that require a fixed spectrum and both low capital and operating costs. Growblades uses a uniformly glowing crystallin film, with a 3-centimeter ultra-thin design that provides greater planting space, thus increasing the productivity of vertical farms. Through large area luminescence and special Crystallin grow thin film spectra, not only can improve the quality of light, but also increase crop yield. According to the initial field test, a growblade can replace 2 to 3 tube Multicolor package LEDs.

With the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana in many countries, it is expected to further boost the global demand for LED plant lighting. Light polymers hopes to help plants achieve optimal growth through innovative plant lights and unique top and side lighting designs to capture business opportunities in this niche market.

Beauty with red light led phototherapy

In addition to LED recessed lights and plant lighting, Light polymers is also set to unveil a special red light phototherapy product this fall. Light Polymers's Advanced optical conversion film uses low cost Blu-ray LEDs to provide phototherapy with red light at far lower cost than previous generation technology. Light Polymers has recently shown a 660nm red light film for Phototherapy.

"Aqueous liquid crystalline materials can be applied to many highly efficient professional uses, and prices are reasonable," says Ye Meijun, Light Polymers Asia Business development manager. "At present, we have a senior hotel to contact with us, we hope to install the relevant equipment, to provide red light treatment for tenants." ”

Red light phototherapy has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and can be used within the United States. Red light can loosen muscles, regenerate gum to reduce wrinkles and repair sunburn skin, NASA research has found. Light Polymers's red-light products include the 300x600mm and 300x1200mm two kinds of sizes, the shell of the modern consumer electronics industry design.
