LED Lamp Is Afraid To Affect The Quality Of Milk, Need To Adjust Wavelength And Outer Packaging
- Jan 22, 2018 -

Milk is one of the world's favorite drinks, the United Nations in 2000 to set the June 1 as the international Milk Day, with the growing popularity of LED lights, but also many universities and research institutions began to study whether LED will affect the quality of milk, but the results of the study on the people who love milk bad news. According to Cornell University (Cornell) This January in the journal "Journal of Dairy Science," the report shows that LED lights will affect the taste and quality of milk.

The team asked skim milk (Fat-free Milk) to be tested under 2,000LX LED lights and fluorescent lights, pointing out that photosensitive substances such as vitamin B, chlorine and Violet (porphyrin) in milk became active when stimulated by light and reacted with other vitamins and proteins, Causes the protein quality to descend, then causes the milk taste to deteriorate.

The study also pointed out that skim milk under the LED light, the taste change than under the fluorescent lamp is obvious. The researchers say most LEDs on the market have Blu-ray, 460nm to 480nm wavelengths, which are easily absorbed by vitamin B in milk, and therefore have a greater impact on milk nutrients and quality.

If you want to keep the quality and flavor of the milk, you can use opaque packaging or adjust the wavelength of light to minimize the effects of light, and manufacturers can use antioxidants to protect milk, researchers say.

LED can increase milk yield

Although the current market most of the light wavelength of LED bulbs will have adverse effects on milk, but the LED can be different chips emit different wavelengths of light, can be replaced by different light bulbs and change the packaging to maintain the quality of milk.

And the effect of LED on milk is not only bad, led can increase the yield of milk. According to previous studies by the University of Michigan (Michigan) and the Michigan Dairy Industry Association (MMPA), milk production increased by 8% over a year under LED illumination.
