Reluctant To Replace LED Lighting, This Britain's Worst Lighting Shop To Close
- Jun 15, 2018 -

The store is part of the Rackhams department store in Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK, which belongs to one of the 31 stores that will be closed as part of the restructuring of the 100-year-old House of Fraser.

In recent years, this store has been criticized by lighting professionals for lighting in the store. Lighting professionals criticized the store for bad photos, damaged aging lamps, bare wires, and chaotic lights. Therefore, Rackhams was dubbed "the worst lighting store in the UK."

Closing the store is part of the proposed Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) of the Fleet-Salem Department Store. It requires the approval of the creditors and plans to make a decision on June 22.

Frank Slevin, chairman of the House of Fraser, told the press: “The retail industry is undergoing a fundamental change, and Fletcher Department urgently needs to adapt to this fast-changing situation, create a future for it and thrive. ”

As the retail industry is responding to the rapid rise of online shopping, the company is one of the many high-end brands that announced the closing of stores this year.

Although the flagship store is still equipped with interiors that emphasize the shopping experience, so-called traditional stores like Rackhams may lack investment.

Some retailers like Rackhams have delayed lighting upgrades to save money, keeping outdated lighting such as traditional fluorescent and halogen lamps, and not investing in energy-efficient LED lighting.
