1, Differences in Luminescence Principles
Firstly, let's take a look at the differences in the light emission principles between LED strip lights and fluorescent tubes. LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor device that emits light energy through the recombination of electrons and holes in semiconductor materials. This lighting method has the characteristics of high efficiency, energy saving, and environmental protection. Fluorescent tubes are a type of gas discharge lamp, which emit light by generating high pressure through a ballast, causing the thin mercury vapor inside the lamp to conduct electricity and emit ultraviolet light. The ultraviolet light then excites the fluorescent powder on the inner wall of the lamp to emit visible light. It can be seen that there is a fundamental difference in the principle of light emission between LED strip lights and fluorescent tubes.
2, Comparison of brightness performance
In terms of brightness performance, LED strip lights have significant advantages over fluorescent tubes. This is mainly due to the high luminous efficiency and concentration of LED chips. The luminous efficiency of LED chips can usually reach over 100lm/W, or even higher, while the luminous efficiency of fluorescent tubes is relatively low. In addition, LED strip lights are composed of multiple LED beads arranged and combined, which can enhance overall brightness by increasing the number of beads or improving the luminous efficiency of individual beads. In contrast, the brightness of fluorescent tubes is limited by their diameter and the quality of the fluorescent powder.
Specifically, under the same power, the brightness of LED strip lights is often higher than that of fluorescent tubes. For example, a LED strip light with a power of 20W may have a brightness equivalent to or even exceeding that of a 40W fluorescent tube. This brightness advantage makes LED strip lights have a wider range of application prospects in places that require high brightness lighting, such as commercial displays, stage lighting, etc.
3, Consideration of energy efficiency ratio
In addition to brightness performance, energy efficiency ratio is also an important indicator for measuring the quality of lighting products. The higher the energy efficiency ratio, the higher the efficiency of converting unit electrical energy into light energy, making it more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. In this regard, LED strip lights also perform well. Due to the high luminous efficiency and low heat generation of LED beads, LED strip lights can more effectively utilize electricity and reduce energy waste during the lighting process. In contrast, fluorescent tubes generate more heat and ultraviolet radiation during the emission process, resulting in some electrical energy not being converted into effective light energy and being wasted.
4, Other advantages and disadvantages
In addition to the brightness and energy efficiency ratios mentioned above, LED strip lights and fluorescent tubes also have their own advantages and disadvantages in other aspects. For example, LED strip lights have the advantages of long lifespan, fast response speed, and adjustable color temperature, while fluorescent tubes have the characteristics of low price and soft light. However, with the continuous advancement of LED technology and the gradual reduction of costs, LED strip lights have also become competitive in price and have gradually replaced the market position of fluorescent tubes in many aspects.
