After more than a decade in lighting exports, property and contractor clients often ask how to install corridor bulkheads properly. A disordered sequence easily leads to uneven height, loose wiring, or later dust and moisture ingress. Here is a practical order of work for apartment corridors, based on field experience.
Fix Positions and Height Before You Start
Lay out points along the corridor length, ceiling height, and target uniformity so long dark gaps do not appear. Keep wall-mount height consistent through the building, in a band that is not easy to hit and still lights the floor well.
Before fixing an led bulkhead lamp, mark a level line on the wall so spacing and alignment are not left to the eye alone.
Isolate Power, Drill, and Fix Securely
Isolate the circuit and verify it is dead before work. Drill to the base-plate template and use suitable anchors-methods differ on concrete and lightweight partitions-so the fitting is fully supported.
The base of a round bulkhead light should sit flat on the wall. One side left open will loosen over time and look poor.
Wire Correctly and Insulate Joints
Follow the product markings for live, neutral, and earth where provided. Make firm terminations, insulate joints properly, and dress spare cable inside the base without pinching seals.
Near sources of damp, protect cable entries and wall penetrations against water and dust to limit later corrosion.
Fit the Cover and Seals in One Pass
Before closing the cover, check that the gasket sits true and is not twisted. Tighten screws evenly on a diagonal pattern so the cover does not warp and leave a gap.
If an oval bulkhead light has a preferred orientation, align the long axis with the corridor so the run looks consistent.
Power Up, Test, and Hand Over
Restore supply and check for normal light, flicker, or noise. Walk the corridor to confirm height, spacing, and brightness link evenly. Clear dust and packing waste, and give the property team a simple point layout and circuit notes.
Installing bulkheads in apartment corridors comes down to consistent layout and height, firm fixing, correct wiring, sound sealing, and a final walk-test. A clear sequence means less rework and fewer complaints.
From years of working with property and export clients, I know installation quality often decides how trouble-free the lights are later-more than the data sheet alone. Fit them properly and the corridor stays usable and easier to maintain.

If you are planning corridor replacement or a new install, share wall type, ceiling height, and how many points you need. I can help identify which bulkhead light fits better and walk through the install points with you.
