As an LED street light manufacturer with more than twelve years of export experience, I have supplied lighting to logistics parks, ports, and industrial zones in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. If I had to name the most dangerous spot in any park at night, I would say the intersection. Trucks turn, forklifts cross, pedestrians walk through, and drivers must decide in seconds. Here is how I advise customers to choose lights for these key points.
Give Intersections Higher Illuminance Than Straight Roads
Drivers need more light where they must slow down, read signs, and watch for crossing traffic. I usually suggest raising the illuminance at intersections by about 30% to 50% compared with the connecting roads. In practice, this means 150W to 200W fixtures at 8 to 10 meters for trunk road junctions, and 100W to 150W for branch road junctions. Good LED street lights for logistics parks should be selected for the junction first, and the straight sections second.
Choose the Right Beam Distribution
A Type II or Type III beam works well on straight roads, but intersections are open areas with traffic from several directions. For a crossroad, a wider Type IV or Type V distribution covers the whole junction more evenly. Ask your supplier for IES files and run a DIALux simulation before ordering. This lets you see dark corners on screen instead of finding them on site after installation.
Plan Pole Position and Layout Carefully
Do not place the pole in the middle of the traffic flow. A common method is to put poles at the far side of the junction, so drivers see approaching vehicles and pedestrians against a lit background. For large intersections, two or three poles, or a high pole with multiple heads, give more uniform coverage. Spacing before the intersection should also be reduced by 20% to 30%, so the light level rises gradually, and the driver's eyes can adjust.
Control Glare and Keep Colors Accurate
A driver in a high truck cab faces light from a different angle than a car driver, and a dazzled driver, even for two seconds, is a real accident risk. Choose fixtures with good cut-off and low glare. A color temperature of 4000K to 5000K with CRI 70 or above makes traffic signs, road markings, and warning colors easy to recognize. Do not use weak, yellow-cast lights at junctions, because they hide details when drivers need them most.
Choose a Supplier Who Stands Behind the Product
If one light fails at an intersection, the most dangerous spot in the park becomes dark overnight. Replacing a fixture on a 10-meter pole also means hiring a lift, closing a lane, and losing working hours. That is why I suggest working with an LED lighting supplier with a 5-year warranty and a real factory behind it. As an LED lighting OEM manufacturer, we also customize wattage, beam angle, color temperature, and branding for project buyers and distributors. Our quality standards include:
- Branded LED chips and drivers, 100% aging test before packing
- Die-cast aluminum housing, IP66 / IK08, 6kV to 10kV surge protection, CE and RoHS certified, with IES files and test reports for DIALux design
When a customer asks me for a 5-year warranty, I can say yes with confidence, because we test before shipment, not after complaints.
Conclusion
For logistics park intersections, choose higher illuminance, a wider beam, careful pole positions, and low-glare, color-accurate fixtures. Our LED street lights are built with strict quality control, so they stay bright, stable, and reliable for years.
