How to ensure the safety and standardization of LED linear light wiring?

一, Electrical safety standards: Compliance is the foundation of wiring
1. Adhere to international and domestic standards
IEC standard: The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has issued IEC 60598-1 "General Safety Requirements for Luminaires", which specifies that the insulation resistance of LED luminaires must be ≥ 2M Ω, the withstand voltage test voltage must be 2U+1000V (U is the working voltage), and they must pass the IP protection level test (such as IP65 dust and waterproof).
Chinese national standard: GB 7000.1-2015 "Luminaires Part 1: General Requirements and Tests" requires that the grounding resistance of the luminaire should be ≤ 0.5 Ω, and the cross-sectional area of the power cord should be matched according to the power (such as 100W luminaires requiring ≥ 1.0mm ² copper wire).
Industry certification: Priority should be given to products that have passed UL, CE, CCC and other certifications to ensure that the material's flame retardancy (such as V-0 level) and temperature resistance (-25 ℃ to+60 ℃) meet the standards.
2. Voltage and polarity management
Single ended power supply: One end of the lamp tube is connected to the live wire (L) and neutral wire (N), and the other end is disconnected. It is necessary to strictly distinguish the polarity to avoid reverse connection that may cause damage to the lamp tube or abnormal light emission.
Double ended power supply: Both ends need to be connected to the live and neutral wires, but some products support reverse current and the polarity requirements need to be confirmed according to the instructions.
Case warning: In a commercial complex project, due to the failure to remove the original fluorescent lamp ballast, the LED tube current was too high, causing 30% of the tubes to burn out. The problem was ultimately solved through a modified direct drive solution.
二, Material selection: Control risks from the source
1. Power supply and driver
Constant current driver: Prioritize using a constant current driver to avoid voltage fluctuations that can shorten the lifespan of the lamp beads. For example, a landmark building adopts dimmable constant current drive to achieve 0-10V dimming with a power factor greater than 0.95.
Overload protection: The driver needs to have built-in short-circuit protection and over temperature protection functions. For example, a certain brand of driver will automatically power off when the current exceeds 120% of the rated value to prevent the risk of fire.
Transformer matching: Low voltage light strips (such as 12V/24V) need to be equipped with isolation transformers, with a power greater than 20% of the total power of the light strip (such as a 100W transformer driving an 80W light strip), to avoid overload heating.
2. Wires and connectors
Wire specifications: Choose wire diameter based on power, for example:
Below 50W: 0.75mm ² copper wire;
50-100W: 1.0mm ² copper wire;
Above 100W: 1.5mm ² copper wire.
Insulation material: Waterproof connectors (such as IP68 rating) and flame-retardant trunking (such as PVC-U material) should be used outdoors or in humid environments to prevent short circuits or electrical leakage.
Connection method: Avoid direct twisting, recommend using cold pressed terminals or welding, and wrap with insulating tape. Due to the use of twisted connections in a certain project, the contact resistance increased and the local temperature rose to 80 ℃, causing the wire trough to melt.
三, Construction standards: Details determine safety
1. Principles of Line Layout
Separation of strong and weak electricity: The LED control line (such as 0-10V dimming light) should maintain a distance of ≥ 30cm from the strong electricity line to avoid electromagnetic interference causing dimming flicker.
Avoid series connection: LED light strips should be connected in parallel, with a single path length not exceeding 10 meters (low-voltage light strips), to prevent voltage attenuation and insufficient brightness at the end.
Case optimization: A hotel lobby adopts a partitioned power supply scheme, dividing the 200 meter light strip into four independent circuits, each equipped with an independent driver, to solve the problem of long-distance voltage drop.
2. Key points of installation process
Embedded installation:
Pre embedded profiles need to be fitted with anti cracking nets to prevent the paint layer from cracking;
The cutting of the light strip should be carried out at the yellow marked points (every 5cm) to avoid cutting and causing the latter half to not light up.
Surface mounted installation:
The metal lamp body needs to be reliably grounded, with a grounding resistance of ≤ 0.1 Ω;
When hanging the suspension line, the single point load should be ≤ 15kg, and a damping and shock absorption device should be installed to prevent swinging.
Special environment adaptation:
Low temperature environment (below -20 ℃): Select low-temperature light strips (working temperature -40 ℃ to+60 ℃);
High frequency interference environment: Add power filters to suppress harmonic interference.
四, Maintenance management: Long term security guarantee
1. Regular inspection system
Monthly inspection: Focus on checking whether the wiring terminals are loose, whether the insulation layer is damaged, and whether the driver temperature is abnormal (normal working temperature rise ≤ 40 ℃).
Annual maintenance: Clean the dust on the surface of the lamp body, check the grounding resistance, and replace aging wires (such as insulation layer cracking or hardening).
2. Emergency handling of faults
Short circuit treatment: Immediately disconnect the power supply, use a multimeter to check the resistance of the circuit, locate the fault point, and replace the damaged wire or driver.
Dimming failure: Check if the 0-10V control line is open or if the driver dimming interface is loose.
3. Intelligent upgrade
IoT monitoring: Deploy temperature and humidity sensors and current monitoring modules, upload real-time data to the cloud platform, and automatically alert in case of abnormalities.
Predictive maintenance: By analyzing the attenuation curve of the LED strip through big data, the replacement demand can be alerted three months in advance to avoid sudden failures.
