2. Connecting the ceiling light's power cables:
Once the base is installed, you can begin wiring. When wiring, follow the principle of connecting neutral to neutral and live to live. Typically, the neutral wire in the power cable is blue, whilst the live wire is red or brown; however, this may vary by region and product. It is advisable to use a voltage tester or similar tool to verify the nature of the wires before connecting them.
Connect the light's power cables to the power cables on the ceiling correctly. Wrap the connection points securely with insulating tape to ensure the connection is firm and free from electrical leakage.
3. Switch on the light to check the wiring:
Once the wiring is complete, switch on the main power supply and test whether the light is connected correctly. If the light comes on, the wiring is correct; if it does not, there may be a problem with the wiring, and you will need to re-check the connections to see if the neutral and live wires have been reversed or if any connections are loose.
4. Fit the ceiling light shade:
Once you have confirmed that the light comes on correctly, you can fit the ceiling light shade. Installation methods may vary depending on the model; some shades are secured to the base with clips, whilst others are fixed with screws. Follow the shade's installation instructions to fit it correctly onto the base, ensuring it is secure and looks neat.
Once you have completed the above steps, your ceiling light is fully installed. During the installation process, it is essential to prioritise safety, particularly when connecting the wires and switching on the main power supply, to prevent electric shock.
