How to Install LED Tri-proof Lights in a Cold Storage Warehouse?

Many overseas clients overlook special installation requirements for cold storage after purchasing fixtures. Improper installation shortens lamp service life and may even create safety hazards. Having delivered many cold chain foreign trade projects, I will share standard installation procedures and common pitfalls for LED tri-proof lights in cold storage to ensure long-term stable operation.

1. On-site survey and fixture verification before installation

Before installation, measure the warehouse ceiling height, aisle width and minimum cold storage temperature to confirm mounting methods: surface mount or suspension mount via rods. Also verify cable specifications. Ordinary cables turn brittle in low temperatures, so low-temperature resistant wiring is mandatory. During selection, IP65 LED tri proof light is preferred, featuring a reliably sealed housing to block moisture and frost and stop condensation from damaging the driver.

2. Mounting position and lighting layout planning

Do not fasten fixtures directly according to drawings. Locate mounting points based on rack layout. Keep lights away from defrost air outlets, where drastic temperature swings easily trigger lens condensation. For long narrow aisles, mount lights lengthwise along passages to create continuous coverage and reduce rack shadows. Strictly follow lighting simulation results for mounting height and fixture spacing. Random adjustments lead to uneven illuminance.

3. Wiring and sealing treatment - the top priority for cold storage installation

Cable terminals are the most failure-prone area in cold storage. Ensure proper insulation during wiring, and fit supplied sealing gaskets at all cable entry points to prevent moisture seeping into fixtures along wire gaps. When installing weatherproof LED batten light, check that end caps are fully tightened and sealing components are intact. Poor sealing allows condensation from recurring temperature changes to erode circuit boards, and fixtures may fail within months. Do not close the covers immediately after wiring. Complete a power-on test first before final sealing.

4. Earthing protection and compliance check

Cold storage counts as a hazardous humid location, so reliable earthing is compulsory. All metal fixture housings must be properly earthed to meet local electrical codes. If emergency lighting is required for the project, you can run wiring for weatherproof emergency light at the same time to guarantee safe personnel evacuation during power cuts. After installation, test cable insulation resistance to rule out leakage risks. Prepare test records in advance for overseas project acceptance.

5. Post-installation commissioning and pre-handover inspection

Once all fixtures are fitted, carry out overall power commissioning. Check each lamp individually for flickering or failure to light up. Measure actual on-site illuminance and compare it with simulation data. Adjust fixture angles promptly if dark zones are found. Train on-site maintenance staff on cleaning and inspection schedules, and warn them not to open fixture casings arbitrarily, which will break the original sealing structure.
