一, Fault diagnosis and matching of adaptation parameters
1. Identification of fault phenomena
The typical manifestations of power adapter damage are: the lamp does not light up at all, intermittent flickering, or abnormal brightness. The fault can be quickly located through the following steps:
Voltage test: Use a multimeter to measure the output voltage of the adapter. If the measured value deviates from the nominal value by more than ± 5%, it can be determined that the adapter is faulty. For example, if the measured value of an adapter with a nominal 24V output is lower than 22.8V or higher than 25.2V, it needs to be replaced immediately.
Appearance inspection: Observe whether the adapter housing is burnt, deformed, or leaking. A certain brand of LED light had a bulging shell due to the bursting of the adapter electrolytic capacitor. After replacement, the fault was resolved.
Load test: Connect the adapter to a lamp of the same specification. If it still cannot work properly, it can be confirmed that the adapter is damaged.
2. Parameter matching for adaptation
The new adapter must meet the following core parameters:
Output voltage: It must be completely consistent with the original adapter. For example, a certain brand of T8 lamp requires 24V ± 0.5V input, and misuse of a 20V adapter will cause the lamp beads to malfunction.
Output current: It needs to be ≥ the nominal value of the original adapter. If the original adapter is labeled as 1A, the new adapter should be selected as either 1A or 1.2A model, but should not exceed the maximum current capacity of the lamp.
Power matching: Following the principle of "power ≥ original adapter". In a certain engineering case, the original adapter had a power of 36W, and a 40W adapter was used for replacement to ensure system stability.
Interface compatibility: Confirm that the polarity of the plug (positive inside and negative outside or negative inside and positive outside) matches the wire sequence. A user mistakenly connected an adapter with opposite polarity to the lighting fixture, causing the driver chip to burn out.
二, Dismantling and installation specifications
1. Safety operation standards
Power off operation: Before replacement, the main power switch must be cut off, and a voltage tester must be used to confirm that there is no power before operation.
Tool preparation: Prepare insulated screwdrivers, wire strippers, heat shrink tubing, and electrical tape. In a certain repair case, an electric shock accident occurred due to the failure to use insulated tools.
Protective measures: Wear insulated gloves to prevent metal tools from coming into contact with both live and neutral wires simultaneously.
2. Disassembly process
Shell disassembly: Choose the disassembly method based on the adapter structure. The locking screw type adapter needs to first remove the screw hole protective cap, and then use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the fixing screw; The high-frequency compression type adapter needs to be pried open along the compression joint with a steel sheet, taking care to avoid damaging the internal circuit.
Cable separation: Record the correspondence between the original cable color and function (such as red live wire, black neutral wire, yellow green ground wire). Use a soldering iron to heat the solder joint, or use a wire stripper to cut the cable (leaving enough wire length).
Troubleshooting: Put the damaged adapter into a dedicated recycling bin to avoid polluting the environment.
3. Installation process
Cable pretreatment: Peel off the insulation layer of the cable by 3-5mm to expose the copper core. Use wire pliers to press the copper core into the terminal, or directly solder it to the PCB board pad.
Interface connection: Connect the output line of the new adapter to the input line of the lighting fixture. It is recommended to use the "red red, black black" wiring method and wrap the exposed copper core with heat shrink tubing.
Fixed installation: Install the adapter in place and secure the housing with screws. Ensure that the heat dissipation holes are unobstructed and leave a ventilation space of at least 5cm around them.
三, Debugging and acceptance
1. Power on test
First power on: Close the main power switch and observe if the light fixture lights up. If there is any abnormality, immediately turn off the power for inspection.
Parameter verification: Use a multimeter to measure the output voltage and current of the adapter and confirm that they meet the design requirements. In a certain case, insufficient output current of the adapter caused the LED to flicker. After replacing the high-power adapter, the problem was solved.
Load test: Continuously power on for 2 hours and monitor the surface temperature of the adapter. If the temperature exceeds 65 ℃, check the heat dissipation conditions or replace with a more efficient model.
2. Acceptance criteria
Functional acceptance: The brightness of the lighting fixtures is uniform, without flicker, dark areas, or color temperature drift.
Safety acceptance: The adapter housing has no abnormal heating, and the cable connection is firm and not loose.
Document recording: Record the new adapter model, parameters, and replacement date, and establish equipment maintenance records.
