1. First, identify the three wires in the ceiling light: generally, the red wire is the live wire, the blue wire is the neutral wire, and the yellow-green wire is the earth wire.

2. Next, connect the switch wire from the junction box in the room to the live wire of the ceiling light.

3. Then, connect the earth wire and the neutral wire to the corresponding terminals in the ceiling light. Then connect the light fitting's neutral wire to the mains neutral.

4. Finally, connect the light fitting's live wire to the switch's live wire.

Do you need to drill holes to install a ceiling light?

You do not need to drill holes to install a ceiling light. As ceiling lights are relatively lightweight, there is no need to drill; simply use nail-free adhesive and secure it with two or three small nails. It is very convenient. Furthermore, when installing a ceiling light, take care to distinguish between the power wires and avoid placing the ends of two wires under the same metal plate to prevent short circuits.

Precautions for using ceiling lights

1. When using a ceiling light, avoid altering its overall structure as much as possible to prevent damage. When cleaning the ceiling light, take care to ensure the structure remains intact; there must be no significant deformation, no missing parts, and no components left uninstalled.

2. Once you have purchased a ceiling light, do not install it immediately. Read the instruction manual carefully to familiarise yourself with the installation details, and then install the light in accordance with the instructions. This will help prevent hazards and ensure normal operation in the future.

3. Take care to protect the ceiling light whilst in use; avoid switching it on and off frequently, as this can lead to premature ageing. If you are stepping away for a short period, there is no need to switch it off; this helps to protect the light fitting.

4. After prolonged use, dust will accumulate on the surface of the ceiling light. When cleaning, use a specialised cleaning agent; do not clean the ceiling light with chemical liquids without due care, as this may damage the surface of the light fitting.
