Recently, the mandatory national standard GB 30255-2026, Minimum Allowable Values of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Grades for LED Products for Indoor Lighting has been officially issued and will come into force on September 1, 2027.
The new mandatory national standard for energy efficiency of indoor lighting products has been revised and upgraded in three main aspects.
First, it has significantly expanded the product coverage, bringing small-beam-angle LED downlights (commonly known as spotlights), LED ceiling lamps,LED high bay lights, replacement double-ended LED lamps, and indoor LED lighting products with dimming, color-tuning and other additional functions into the energy efficiency standard system. Focusing on energy conservation in basic lighting products, it restricts the energy efficiency of emerging high-profile products such as smart lighting and improves the regulatory basis for product energy efficiency.
Second, it scientifically raises energy efficiency indicators, setting standards by category according to product characteristics and application scenarios. On the basis of moderately raising the level 3 energy efficiency access threshold, it further tightens the technical requirements for level 2 energy-saving products and increases the differentiation of high-efficiency products. Meanwhile, energy efficiency adjustments are provided for high-end product types such as high color rendering, anti-glare and intelligent control products, ensuring both energy saving and high lighting quality.
Third, it reasonably optimizes relevant performance indicators, adding requirements for standby power consumption to reduce "invisible" energy waste when products are in non-operating states, and promoting lighting energy conservation from "operating energy efficiency" to "full-time energy efficiency".
Based on the development of China's lighting industry and market, and drawing on international experience for upgrading, the new national standard will strongly promote the high-quality development and green low-carbon transformation of the lighting industry.
