A ceiling light is a fixture with a flat top that mounts directly against the ceiling, looking as if it is attached to the roof. It serves as the main indoor lighting for homes, offices, and entertainment spaces.
LED bulkhead lights are the most popular today-stylish and practical. Different light sources suit different places. Models using ordinary incandescent or fluorescent bulbs work well in homes, classrooms, and office buildings with ceiling heights around 4 meters. High-intensity discharge lamps, which are larger and more powerful, are better for sports halls, hypermarkets, and factories with heights of 4 to 9 meters. Fluorescent versions are often chosen for homes, schools, shops, and offices because they offer moderate brightness and energy savings.
Common shapes include:
- Square-cover ceiling lights
- Globe ceiling lights
- Pointed flat-round ceiling lights
- Semi-globe ceiling lights
- Semi-flat-globe ceiling lights
- Small rectangular-cover ceiling lights
These styles suit living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms. They are easy to install and give interiors a clean, bright feel.
LED bulkhead lights are mainly divided into four structural types:
- Full-board flat type – Circuit boards joined into a circle with evenly spaced LEDs. Good light output and low production cost, but uses more material and has poorer heat dissipation.
- Side-emitting type – LED strips around the base edge. Simple structure, better heat dissipation and even light, but lower light efficiency.
- Ring-tube flat type – Ring-shaped boards inside a plastic tube. LEDs are protected, yet heat dissipation is limited.
- Ring-tube angled type – Modular aluminum boards and heat sinks. Best heat dissipation and easy installation using existing covers, though production is more complex and costly.
