1, Technical background
Firstly, we need to understand the basic principles and working methods of LED lights. LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor device that can convert electrical energy into light energy. In LED lights, when current passes through the LED chip, the chip emits light. The driving power of LED lights is to convert AC power into DC power suitable for the operation of LED chips.
In the design of LED driver power supply, there are usually two basic circuit configurations: constant voltage drive and constant current drive. Constant voltage drive drives LED lights by maintaining voltage stability, while constant current drive drives LED lights by controlling the magnitude of the current. The constant current drive method can better protect LED chips and prevent them from being damaged due to excessive current.
2, Why do we need three wires
Implementing constant current drive: In the design of some LED lights, in order to achieve constant current drive, a third wire needs to be introduced to transmit control signals. Through this wire, precise control of LED light current can be achieved, ensuring the stability and reliability of LED lights.
Provide ground wire protection: In some places with high safety requirements, such as home lighting, commercial lighting, etc., LED lights need to be equipped with ground wires to provide additional safety protection. The function of the ground wire is to prevent electric shock accidents caused by the leakage of lighting fixtures. Therefore, using the third wire as the ground wire can effectively improve the safety of LED lights.
Implementing multi light linkage: In some situations that require multi light linkage, such as exhibition halls, museums, etc., LED lights need to have the ability to communicate and work together. At this point, the third line can serve as a communication line to achieve data exchange and collaborative control between multiple LED lights.
3, The specific application of three wires
Constant current drive: In LED lights driven by constant current, the third wire is usually connected to the control terminal of the driving power supply. Through this cable, the driving power supply can monitor the current of the LED light in real time and adjust the output current as needed to ensure that the LED light always works in its optimal state.
Ground wire protection: In LED lights that require ground wire protection, the third wire is directly connected to the metal casing or bracket of the lamp and connected to the ground wire system. In this way, even if there is leakage in the lighting fixtures, the leakage current can be quickly directed to the ground through the ground wire, avoiding the occurrence of electric shock accidents.
Multi light linkage: In LED lights that require multi light linkage, the third line serves as a communication line, which can achieve data exchange and collaborative control between multiple LED lights. For example, through this wire, multiple LED lights can be adjusted for brightness, color temperature, switch control, and other functions, thereby achieving more flexible and diverse lighting effects.
