One common fault reported for an IP65 LED bulkhead light is a persistent dim glow accompanied by frequent flickering. - Faulty LED Driver: The driver serves as the core regulator for the LED bulkhead light, converting AC mains power into low-voltage DC for the LED chips. Bulging filter capacitors, damaged voltage regulation circuits, or a driver mismatched to the LED board rating will produce unstable output voltage. This directly results in faint light and repeated flickering, and it is the most common cause of this failure.

- Degraded LED Chips: LED chips come with a rated service life. After prolonged operation, some chips experience lumen depreciation or burnout. The remaining functional chips cannot output full power, leading to reduced overall brightness. Inconsistent performance among the remaining working chips then causes flickering. Poor thermal dissipation accelerates ageing of both the chips and driver and speeds up this type of failure.
Begin troubleshooting by isolating the power supply first, then retighten the terminals at the lamp base to eliminate poor contact. If the problem continues, replacing the driver with a matching wattage unit is a low-cost and widely adopted fix. Should flickering still occur, test the incoming supply voltage or replace the complete LED chip module.
