Neither material is the best choice for every project. Glass may be preferred for appearance, optical stability, and cleaning, while PC can reduce weight and improve resistance to accidental contact.

Using Bulkhead Lights in Bathrooms

A bathroom bulkhead light needs to tolerate humidity, condensation, and possible water exposure. A conventional dry-location wall light may not provide enough protection for these conditions.

The required IP rating depends on the installation position and its distance from the shower, bathtub, basin, and other water sources. Confirm Wall and Ceiling Mounting Requirements

Some bulkhead fixtures can be installed on either a wall or ceiling, but the product shape alone does not confirm that both directions are approved. Installation instructions should be checked for mounting method, cable-entry direction, heat management, sealing, and drainage requirements.

For wall mounting, the back plate and sealing gasket need to sit evenly against the surface. Rough brick, stone, or textured walls may require a suitable mounting base or additional weather sealing. The cable entry should be positioned so that water cannot collect around the opening.
