A Profit Surge Built on Ten Years of Acquisitions
MLS Co., Ltd., the Zhongshan-based LED packaging group, reported first-half 2026 revenue of 9.795 billion yuan, up 23.68 percent year on year, with net profit attributable to shareholders of 662 million yuan, a jump of 330.68 percent. Operating cash flow nearly tripled to 1.092 billion yuan. The driver was not a single product cycle but the closing of a decade-long acquisition strategy: in January, MLS and its unit LEDVANCE paid 900 million yuan for a 34.78 percent stake in Xiamen Refond Optoelectronics, lifting its holding to roughly 72 percent and completing a chain running from chips and phosphor through packaging to branded distribution.
Refond's COB integrated packaging already leads global shipments, while its Intematix phosphor business holds an estimated 80 to 90 percent share of the domestic e-commerce eye-care light source market. For luminaire buyers, the practical effect is that one group now influences the cost, quality, and availability of the LED packages that sit inside finished products, including the LED linear light families used across offices, warehouses, and retail fit-outs worldwide.
Why the Upstream Story Reaches the Fixture Level
China's LED chain spent three years in a brutal price war that pushed packaging below cash cost. Capacity has since cleared, and price increases that began in the third quarter of 2025 have now run through chips, packaging, and application products simultaneously, the first industry-wide repricing in a decade. Luminaire makers who grew used to buying on spot pricing are being pulled into annual contracts as a result.
That repricing changes specification habits. When packages were cheap and interchangeable, buyers ordered by lumen and unit price. With packages repricing, binning consistency, colour rendering stability, and long-term supply commitments matter more, because a mid-project component swap can visibly change the colour of an entire ceiling run.
Distributors evaluating LED lighting manufacturer partners should treat this as a signal to lock specifications earlier in the design cycle, and to ask which package bin a luminaire uses before the order is placed rather than after the first delivery arrives.
Luxsky Product Perspective
We have watched this consolidation closely, because supply stability is part of product quality. Every surface mounted linear light we ship uses binned LED sources with documented photometric files and a stated MacAdam step, so a repeat order placed two years later still matches the fixtures already on the ceiling.

If you are planning a project that will be phased over several years, ask your supplier two questions before signing: which package bin does this luminaire use, and can you guarantee the same bin for the final phase? Manufacturers who control their own supply chain answer both in writing, and that answer is worth more than a small discount.
