As a smart street light salesperson, you need to understand several basic technical specifications of LED street lights that clients are concerned about. Generally speaking, these specifications fall into three categories: optical performance, electrical performance, and other indicators.

Die-cast integrated LED street light
Optical performance indicators
1) Luminous efficiency

Street light efficiency is generally defined as the luminous flux emitted per watt of electrical energy, measured in lumens per watt (lm/W). A higher luminous efficiency indicates a street light's efficiency in converting electrical energy into light; the higher the luminous efficiency, the brighter the street light will be at the same power level.

Currently, mainstream domestic LED street light products have a luminous efficiency of 140 lm/W. Therefore, in real-world projects, clients generally require a luminous efficiency greater than 130 lm/W.

2) Color temperature

Street light color temperature is a parameter that indicates the color of the light, measured in degrees Celsius (K). Yellow or warm white has a color temperature of 3500K or less; neutral white has a color temperature greater than 3500K and less than 5000K; and cool white has a color temperature greater than 5000K.

Color Temperature Comparison
Currently, CJJ 45-2015, the "Urban Road Lighting Design Standard," stipulates that when using LED light sources, the correlated color temperature should be less than or equal to 5000K, with warm color temperature light sources being preferred. Therefore, in actual projects, owners generally require streetlight color temperatures between 3000K and 4000K. This color temperature is more comfortable for the human eye and the light color is closer to that of traditional high-pressure sodium lamps, making it more acceptable to the public.

3) Color Rendering Index

Color exists only when there is light. Objects appear different colors under different lighting conditions. The color displayed by an object under sunlight is often called its true color. To indicate how well different light sources reflect an object's true color, the color rendering index (Ra) is used. The color rendering index (CRI) typically ranges from 20 to 100, with higher values representing true colors. Sunlight has a CRI of 100.

Comparison of Different Color Rendering Effects
In actual road lighting projects, a CRI of 70 or higher is generally required for streetlights.

2. Electrical Performance

1) Rated Operating Voltage

This indicator is easy to understand; it refers to the input voltage of the streetlight. However, it should be noted that in actual operation, the voltage of the power supply line itself fluctuates, and due to voltage drops at both ends of the line, the voltage range is typically between 170 and 240 V AC.

Therefore, the rated operating voltage range for LED street lighting products should be between 100 and 240 V AC.

2) Power Factor

Currently, according to relevant national standards, the power factor of streetlights must be greater than 0.9. Mainstream products have achieved a power factor of 0.95 or higher.

3. Other Specifications

    1) Structural Dimensions

For streetlight replacement projects, consult with the customer or measure the arm dimensions on-site. The mounting holes for the lamp holders will need to accommodate the arm dimensions.

    2) Dimming Requirements

LED street lights can adjust their brightness by varying the operating current, thus achieving energy savings in scenarios such as midnight lighting.

Currently, a 0-10VDC signal is commonly used for dimming control in practical projects.

    3) Safety Requirements

Generally, LED lamps must meet IP65 or higher standards, module light sources must meet IP67 or higher standards, and power supplies must meet IP67 standards.

To better meet customer needs, it is essential for sales personnel to understand the basic specifications of LED street lights.
