After years in foreign trade, the question I hear most often from clients is: "How much does an industrial park LED street light actually cost?" There is no single answer. You can find lights for a few hundred yuan, while higher-end ones easily exceed a thousand. The big price differences are not simply about "expensive or cheap"-they reflect what you are actually buying. First, the fixture itself. Power is the most direct factor. Common ratings are 50 W, 80 W, 100 W, 120 W, and 150 W. Higher power means higher costs for chips, heat dissipation, and drivers. Even at the same 100 W, a difference in efficacy between 150 lm/W and 180 lm/W can create a price gap of more than 20 %. Chip brand and driver quality matter even more. A reputable driver with over-voltage, over-current, and surge protection costs more than a no-name unit, but industrial parks often have unstable voltage-saving money here usually leads to higher repair costs later.
Protection rating and materials are equally important. The step from IP65 to IP66 changes the sealing structure and cost. Die-cast aluminum housings with thick powder coating cost more than thin aluminum or steel shells, yet they offer better heat dissipation and corrosion resistance-essential for dusty, humid, or chemically exposed sites. Ultra-low-price products often cut corners with poor seals and thin housings; water ingress and rust appear within a year or two, wiping out any initial savings.
Smart control is currently one of the biggest price differentiators. Basic photocell or timer fixtures are cheaper. Units with remote monitoring, group dimming and fault alarms typically cost 30–50 % more, sometimes higher. Once installed, however, smart systems usually cut electricity use by 30 % or more and greatly improve maintenance efficiency. Many parks find that the total cost of ownership of a smart solution is actually lower.
Poles and installation must also be included. Pole height, wall thickness, and anti-corrosion treatment (especially hot-dip galvanizing thickness) directly affect price; the difference between 8 m, 10 m, and 12 m poles is significant. Add foundations, cabling, and commissioning, and the complete system cost per light is often two to three times the fixture price alone. Looking only at the fixture unit price easily misses the larger expenses.
Order quantity and degree of customization also influence the quotation. Larger volumes bring better negotiating room; small batches or special optics, voltages, or colors push the unit price up. Sample fees, certification costs, packaging, shipping, and customs clearance are all factored into export projects as well.
One final reminder: products priced well below normal cost usually carry the highest risk. Drivers are downgraded, chips are inferior, protection ratings are exaggerated. Short-term savings often turn into higher replacement and maintenance costs within two or three years. Experienced buyers evaluate fixture specifications, life-cycle electricity costs, warranty terms, and after-sales response speed together-rather than chasing the lowest price alone.
