How to Install a 30×60 cm Ceiling Light

A 30×60 cm ceiling light is a common size for living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways. Many modern LED bulkhead lights and oval bulkhead light models use this rectangular format. Correct installation ensures safety, a tight fit, and even lighting. With two people, the job usually takes about 20 minutes.

Prepare these tools first: electric drill, expansion screws, screwdriver, ladder, voltage tester, pencil, and measuring tape.

      Follow these four steps:

1. Cut the power and confirm safety
Switch off the room's main power and use a voltage tester to make sure the wires are completely dead. Never work on a live circuit.

2. Mark the position and drill
Find the center point on the ceiling with a measuring tape. Mark the four corner positions according to the 30 cm and 60 cm sides. Drill holes with a 6 mm bit and insert expansion plugs. For concrete ceilings, each fixing point should support at least 5 kg, with a 1.5× safety margin.

3. Connect the wires and secure the fixture
Match the fixture wires (usually blue/black for neutral, brown/red for live) to the ceiling wires. Use terminals and wrap with insulating tape. Lift the light into place, align it with the holes, and tighten the screws fully. Make sure the edges sit flush against the ceiling to avoid gaps that can cause flickering or dust buildup.

4. Test and adjust
Restore power and check brightness and uniformity. If any area looks dim, fine-tune the LED board clips. Once everything looks good, the installation is complete.

Extra tips:

  • Many LED bulkhead lights feature ultra-thin designs; some even offer magnetic or no-drill options for easier mounting.
  • In humid areas, an IP65 bulkhead light provides better protection and longer service life.
  • After installation, periodically check that the screws remain tight.

These steps help most 30×60 cm ceiling lights sit securely and perform reliably.
