What Color Temperature Actually Means

      Color temperature (CCT - Correlated Color Temperature) is measured in Kelvin, and it describes how warm or cool a light appears. It has nothing to do with brightness - that's a separate spec (lumens), and buyers mix the two up more often than you'd think.

Here's the quick version:

  • 3000K (Warm White) - yellowish, similar to sunset or old incandescent bulbs. Works well for residential streets and hotel grounds, where the goal is a relaxed, welcoming feel rather than alertness.
  • 4000K (Neutral White) - close to natural daylight, balanced and easy on the eyes. This is what we recommend for most industrial park and road lighting projects.
  • 5000K (Cool White / Daylight White) - bluish-white, higher contrast. Better suited to warehouses, logistics yards, and anywhere that benefits from heightened visual alertness.
  • 6000K (Cool White, high end) - even bluer, harsher on the eyes. It gives strong contrast in the short term, but over a large area and long hours of use, it tends to cause visual fatigue. I don't recommend it for full-scale industrial park lighting.

      Both the CIE and IES lighting standards point to 4000K–5000K as the practical range for road and industrial outdoor lighting - that range is where visibility and comfort stay in balance. Everything outside that range trades one for the other.

      Industrial park lighting isn't a "colder equals brighter" decision - that's a common misconception.
