1. LED Chips and Light Source

      The core of any LED street light is the chip. Some manufacturers use tier-one brand chips that deliver stable efficacy and slow lumen depreciation. Others use lesser-known or downgraded chips that look similar at the beginning but show obvious light decay after a year or two. Chip cost alone can create a significant difference in the final quotation. For industrial park projects, choosing the weaker option often means illuminance falls short and energy savings never reach the target.

2. The Driver - The Heart of the Fixture

      The driver is the heart of the street light. A good driver offers high power factor, strong surge protection, and long service life. Cheap drivers usually have a narrow voltage range and weak protection; when voltage fluctuates in an industrial park, they fail in batches. The cost difference on the driver can account for 15-25% of the whole fixture. Many low-priced products cut corners right here.

3. Heat Dissipation and Housing Materials

Proper manufacturers use ADC12 aluminum die-casting with well-designed heat-sink fins and low thermal resistance. Some use recycled aluminum or insufficient wall thickness, which leads to poor heat dissipation, higher chip temperatures, and shorter lifespan. Details such as the pole connection, waterproof structure, and even the grade of screws also add up and pull the cost apart.

4. Protection Rating and Structural Workmanship

The difference between IP66 and IP65 looks like just one number, yet the sealing rings, potting, and structural precision are completely different. Industrial parks are dusty and often rainy; inadequate protection means water and dust will eventually get in. Rough welding, coating, or assembly also shows up in both appearance and sealing performance, and of course in the price.

5. Smart Functions and Extra Features

A basic on/off light and one that supports 0-10V dimming, motion sensing, or remote monitoring sit in very different cost ranges. Some quotations include the intelligent control system; others are for the single lamp only. If you don't clarify what is included, the lower price can easily mislead you.

6. Certifications and Testing

Export projects commonly require CE, RoHS, CB, and sometimes LM80, TM21, salt-spray, or vibration tests. These reports and certificates cost money and are built into the quotation. Products without proper certification can be quoted much lower, but they risk being rejected in the target market - leaving the client to carry the problem.

7. Warranty and After-Sales Service

Established manufacturers usually offer a 3-5 year warranty with spare parts and responsive support. Low-price suppliers may give only one year and become difficult to reach when problems appear. The real cost of warranty and service is reflected in the quotation. Those of us in foreign trade know that the true saving lies in the life-cycle cost, not the ex-factory price.

8. Production Scale and Pricing Strategy

Large factories with higher automation and bigger purchasing volumes control costs better. Smaller factories or trading companies operate with different margin structures - some push volume with low prices, others position themselves in the higher-quality segment. Different market positioning naturally creates different price ranges.

In short, large quotation differences come from the invisible factors: components, materials, workmanship, certifications, and service. Simply comparing the bottom-line price makes it easy to end up with a product that looks similar but performs poorly.

When evaluating quotations, don't focus only on the total amount. Ask specifically about:

  • Chip brand
  • Driver specifications
  • Protection rating
  • Heat-dissipation structure
  • Smart functions
  • Certification reports
  • Warranty terms

      Once those are laid out, the differences become clear. Put the key parameters and warranty conditions into the contract to avoid disputes later.
