China's lighting market opened August 2026 with a wave of large-scale tenders worth well over one billion yuan combined. From airport runway lighting to citywide LED street light retrofits and waterfront facade illumination, public infrastructure spending is once again driving demand for high-performance outdoor luminaires.

The standout project of the week came from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, where two runway lighting contracts totaling 380 million yuan were awarded. Sichuan Huaxi Installation secured the first package for 268 million yuan, while Beijing Jinghang'an Technology took the second for 112 million yuan. Together with an earlier award, total airport-related lighting investment at the hub has now passed 620 million yuan, confirming that the "airport moment" for China's lighting sector has fully returned.

City LED Street Light Retrofits Accelerate

Municipal street lighting remains the largest volume segment. Zhongshan city center launched a 150-million-yuan secondary energy-saving retrofit covering roughly 54,700 luminaires. The plan replaces aging lamps with new-generation high-efficacy LEDs fitted with 4G single-lamp controllers, and adds a ten-year smart maintenance contract covering lines, transformers, and asset management.

Ningwei Street in Hangzhou followed with a 137-million-yuan energy-cost management package: the contractor invests in upgrading about 7,630 municipal lamps and operates the system under a 15-year concession. Similar frameworks are spreading quickly because they let cities upgrade without upfront capital, paying instead from verified energy savings.

tural segment. For projects of this type, specifiers typically select 150W LED flood lights outdoor IP65 rated units with narrow-to-medium beam optics to sculpt building silhouettes while controlling light pollution.

What the Tenders Signal for Buyers

  • Smart control is now standard: single-lamp controllers and asset platforms appear in nearly every street tender.
  • Long service contracts (10-15 years) reward manufacturers with proven reliability and service networks.
  • Energy-performance contracting keeps large retrofits moving even under tight municipal budgets.

For overseas buyers watching China's market, the trend is clear: demand is concentrating on durable, sensor-ready LED street light systems and certified flood lighting. As a manufacturer serving both domestic infrastructure and export markets, we expect these specifications to become the global baseline for public lighting procurement through 2027.

For specification teams, the practical takeaway is that this LED street light tender wave rewards suppliers able to deliver smart-ready luminaires with certified surge protection and long warranty terms. If your agency is preparing similar bids, now is the moment to qualify a dependable LED street light and LED flood light partner before order books fill.
