Another Award on the National Trunk Network
Shenzhen Spark Optoelectronics has been awarded the tunnel lighting contract for the Fude to Yiliang expressway project in Kunming, Yunnan Province. The company described the win as a further step in its road lighting business, expanding its presence in southwest China and reinforcing its position within the national ten vertical and ten horizontal trunk highway network.
Expressway tunnel packages are among the most technically demanding work in road lighting, and they are also among the most predictable. The design standards are national, the zones are defined by design speed, and the acceptance tests are measured rather than judged. That predictability is why specialist suppliers pursue them.
What the Zones Actually Require
Tunnel lighting is governed by visual adaptation. The threshold zone, where a driver enters from daylight, needs far higher luminance than the interior, and the transition zones step that level down over a defined distance. A compliant led tunnel light specification therefore states maintained luminance per zone, not initial lumens, and includes a maintenance factor based on the real cleaning interval.
Dimming is the second lever. Output is trimmed in daylight and restored after dark, which means every luminaire needs a control interface that behaves predictably and a driver that holds colour and output stable across the dimming range.
The service areas deserve separate attention. Plant rooms, cross passages, and emergency walkways are washed down and rarely heated, which is where an LED triproof lamp rated for the same cleaning regime keeps the spares inventory simple across the whole asset.
Luxsky Product Perspective
We approach tunnel work as a maintenance problem as much as a photometric one. Our led tunnel light range is specified with maintained-luminance data, asymmetric optics for threshold and interior zones, IP66 sealing, and drivers mounted for replacement without dropping the housing.
Emergency lighting is the clause most often left until last in tunnel packages, and it should not be. Escape routes, cross passages, and equipment rooms need a defined maintained illuminance that survives a mains failure, which means either a central battery system or luminaires with integral emergency packs. Deciding that late in the programme usually forces a second product family into a scheme that had been planned around one.
Corrosion protection is the other late addition. Tunnels in humid regions carry persistent condensation, and a housing finish specified for a dry climate will show rust within two monsoons.

Send us the tunnel length, zone arrangement, design speed, and cleaning interval. We will return a zone-by-zone luminaire schedule with maintained luminance calculations, so the bid and the operating plan describe the same asset.
