As a manufacturer specialising in ceiling lights, we often see customers get stuck at the installation stage after receiving an LED crystal ceiling light. The process is straightforward if the steps are followed correctly. Here is a complete, practical guide you can keep for reference.
1. Fix the mounting base
Pre-embed bolts in the ceiling or use expansion bolts and nylon plugs to secure the base. Never use wooden wedges; the fixings must support more than the weight of the light. If the base has mounting holes, use at least as many bolts as holes. If there are no holes, use a minimum of two bolts and keep the centre of gravity aligned. A single bolt is acceptable only when the insulating plate diameter is ≤75 mm.
2. Wiring
Wiring follows the same basic rules as a standard ceiling light: live to the switched wire, neutral to neutral, and a solid earth connection. LED lights usually run at lower power, so 1.5 mm² copper cable is often sufficient, but it must still meet national standards. If the light has a built-in driver, connect the input side to the mains live and neutral, and the output side to the light body. Many of our outdoor bulkhead light models use a similar driver arrangement-the key is to tighten the connectors and insulate them well.
3. Mount the light body and decorative parts
Gently place the light body onto the fixed base, align the bolt holes and tighten the nuts. Then fit the crystal pendants or cover, making sure every part is secure. With a clean-shaped product such as our round bulkhead light, accurate centring is especially important to avoid later tilting.
4. Power-on test
Turn off the main switch first, then switch on and check that the light illuminates normally without flicker. Also confirm that all decorative pieces are firmly in place.
Key points to remember
- Work only with the power fully isolated and verified dead.
- 1.5 mm² copper cable is generally enough for loads ≤300 W; increase the size if the run exceeds 50 m.
- Metal-bodied lights must have a reliable earth connection.
- Choose products with stable drivers and consistent quality control.
In real projects, our bulkhead light series is often quicker to install because of its simpler structure and clear wiring, and customers usually find the result more reliable. Follow the steps above and you can complete the installation of an LED crystal ceiling light safely.

If the site is complicated or you are unsure which fixing method your light uses, send a photo or the model number. As the manufacturer, we can help judge from experience and make sure our ceiling lights are installed correctly the first time.
