As a ceiling light manufacturer with years of export experience, installation is one of the questions we hear most often. Ceiling light installation is not complicated. There are two practical methods. Once you understand them, you can complete the job yourself. Here's a clear guide based on real experience.
Method 1: Self-tapping screws (for wooden ceilings or gypsum board)
First, remove the cover and tubes to avoid breakage during installation.
- Pass the reserved wires through the hole in the base.
- Support the base with one hand and hold it against the mounting position.
- Drive one screw into place but do not tighten it fully.
- Check and adjust the position for level.
- Tighten the remaining screws.
- Connect the power wires to the terminal block.
- Refit the tubes and cover.
Method 2: Expansion bolts (for concrete or load-bearing ceilings)
- Choose a position that can support the weight. Avoid pure wooden surfaces to prevent later falling.
- Remove the cover and tubes.
- Mark and drill holes, then insert expansion bolts that match the bolt specification.
- Fix the base and connect the wires. Wrap each joint with insulating tape and keep the joints separated to avoid short circuits.
- Test the light. If it works normally, fit the cover and any decorative parts.
Our LED bulkhead light follows the same basic installation logic as a standard ceiling light, with a base designed for easier fixing. A bulkhead light is often used in corridors and bathrooms, where the expansion-bolt method is usually more secure.
For damp locations, an IP65 bulkhead light is recommended; because of its weight and protection requirements, expansion bolts are the safer choice for long-term stability.

Always turn off the power before starting. If you are unsure about load-bearing capacity or wiring, call a qualified electrician. Tell us your ceiling material and light model, and we can help you decide which installation method suits our ceiling lights best.
